Travois, Builder

For migratory civilizations that didn't use the wheel, the travois provided a handy means of transporting goods and supplies and in some cases the elderly and the sick. A travois was formed by lashing two poles together in the shape of a V with leather crosspieces between them to act as a carrier. The closed end was placed over the shoulders of a person, dog, or horse and then pulled, dragging the open end across the ground.
