How to use it
The Hetman is a cavalry hero replacing the Explorer for the Poles. He can collect Treasures, construct Trading Posts, Town Centers, and the Sejm. While he lacks a ranged attack, the Hetman is faster and more durable than an Explorer; his mace inflicts area damage in melee combat.
History
The Hetman was the supreme military commander of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, second only to the King. Holding lifelong tenure with immense autonomy, the office was divided into Grand Hetmans (commanders-in-chief) and Field Hetmans (frontier commanders) to balance the dual nations of the Commonwealth. It was held by legendary magnates like Jan Chodkiewicz and Stanisław Żółkiewski, the only European commander to capture Moscow undamaged. Jan Sobieski’s military prestige as Grand Hetman later secured his election as King. The Hetman’s independence often rivaled royal authority, embodying the decentralized, noble-driven nature of the Commonwealth's military and political system.
